92% of Business IT Users Have Lost Valuable Data

According to FileReplicationPro

FileReplicationPro, a platform application for file replication and synchronization from Diasoft Corporation, announced the results of an alarming new survey detailing corporate data storage and backup policy.

Fully 92 percent of business users have lost valuable business data under various circumstances, including: hard disk malfunction (87 percent), computer virus (31 percent) and notebook/computer theft (18 percent). However, the lack of suitable backup and file replication solutions - only 56 percent of survey respondents reported access to alternative data sources - indicates that there could be significant disruption to many businesses in the event of primary data loss.

"Despite the ever-decreasing cost of storage and the tremendous increase in availability, companies are not effectively defining file replication or disaster recovery policies," commented FileReplicationPro EVP of Products Kuty Shalev. "Our survey has confirmed our belief that even companies that are acutely aware of the need for comprehensive file replication or offsite backup, in many cases, do not have the expertise or time to dedicate to implementing a replication policy. Our easily maintainable and fully interoperable solutions can help companies, large and small, to create fully mirrored data storage environments and helping to improve business efficiency."

A further startling result from the survey showed that while nearly all (89.58 percent) enterprises have more than one location and over 70 percent synchronize data between those locations, only 43 percent do so more than once a day. With the rapid rate of change of information in today's business environment, this lack of transparency and unequal availability to the latest data, can result in poor decision making and be very costly to companies. Our survey further illustrated that a combination of time constraints, complicated installation and maintenance procedures and expense accounted for over 53 percent of the reasons why companies have not devised file replication policies.

Bob Tarzey, Service Director at IT analyst firm Quocirca commented, "Ensuring off site data back-up or replication is a vital aspect of any data protection strategy. Whilst most companies back-up their servers, the process for doing so is often cumbersome, despite the range of options for automating the process. Choosing the right one should ensure data remains highly accessible and that full recovery can be rapidly achieved in emergency situations."

FileReplicationPro is a native cross platform provider of file replication and synchronization software. It is used by hundreds of companies, from small businesses to large enterprises and government organizations, handling terabytes of data across millions of files to solve a variety of business problems, including Offsite Data Backup, Branch Office Synchronization and Web Content Distribution. With advanced bit level copy algorithms, FileReplicationPro is able to replicate and synchronize data rapidly with efficient use of network and system resources. Based on standard communication protocols, FileReplicationPro works across most local or wide area networks and with native cross platform support is effective regardless of the operating system on which the files reside.
