Finjan names John Vigouroux as President and CEO

Finjan today announced the executive appointments of Eric Benhamou as Chairman and John Vigouroux as President and CEO. Outgoing President & CEO, Asher Polani, will continue to serve on the Board of Directors. Eric Benhamou is named as Chairman of the Board.

Over the past two years, Finjan has experienced substantial strategic and business success, asserting its leadership in the secure web gateway market and demonstrated significant growth. After establishing a firm foothold in the EU market, Finjan is placing a renewed emphasis on the US market, which is the largest geographic market for Finjan’s products and technology and represents a major strategic opportunity. Within this territory, Finjan has decided to move up market and serve the web security needs of large US enterprises, in addition to the medium and smaller businesses it already serves. To support this strategy, the new executive appointees will both be based in the Silicon Valley, while operations in the EU and elsewhere will continue to be supported by Finjan’s regional offices around the world.

« Eric’s entrepreneurial background, together with John’s executive management record at high-profile security technology companies, brings invaluable experience and perspective to Finjan, » stated Asher Polani, outgoing President & CEO of Finjan. « Finjan has gained product superiority and market leadership. Strengthening our presence and management capacity in the US will further accelerate our momentum. My commitment to Finjan’s success remains unswerving, and I look forward to continuing to serve on the Board of Directors. »

Mr. Vigouroux joins Finjan as President & CEO with over 25 years of experience leading private and public security companies. Mr. Vigouroux is coming to Finjan from Cranite Systems, a secure network company, where he served as the Chairman and CEO. Prior to this, he was President and COO at Tumbleweed Communications as well as President and CEO at Valicert, which was acquired by Tumbleweed. Mr. Vigouroux has also held executive positions in both large multi-national enterprises such as Cisco, Adobe Systems, and GE Information Services, as well as several Silicon Valley startups.  « I am excited to be a part of the team and look forward to accelerating Finjan’s business growth in a rapidly expanding market, » said Vigouroux.  « The ability to proactively secure enterprises from the growing cybercrime threat is of paramount concern to enterprises worldwide, and Finjan is uniquely positioned to address this need. » Eric Benhamou is chairman and CEO of Benhamou Global Ventures, which invests and plays an active role in innovative high tech firms throughout the world. Benhamou is also the chairman of the board of directors of 3Com Corporation and Palm, Inc. He served as chief executive officer of Palm from October 2001 until October 2003. Benhamou served as chief executive officer of 3Com Corporation from September 1990 until December 31, 2000. In 1981, Benhamou co-founded Bridge Communications, an early networking pioneer, and was vice president of engineering until its merger with 3Com in 1987. In addition, he serves on the boards of the INSEAD School of Business, the Stanford University School of Engineering and Ben Gurion University of the Negev.

« Finjan is a recognized technological leader in the web security space and has a proven record of success. I look forward to closely working with John Vigouroux and the rest of the management team as we steer Finjan through its next phases of growth, » said Benhamou.
